3 Days Workshop on Skill Development in Combat Sports

The Major Dhyan Chand Department of Physical Education, Swami Vivekanand  Subharti University  organizing an insightful three days workshop on skill development in combat sports. The workshop, held on 23rd September,23 and will continue for three days, witnessed the gracious presence of distinguished chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Major Genaral G.K Thapliyal,  the Special Guest Professor Dr. Amar P. Garg, and esteemed resource persons Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Chaudhary and Dr. Anoj Raj, Head department of Education.

The event was warmly welcomed and anchored by Mr. Nikhil Sheoran , Assistant Professor in the  department of Physical Education, and the workshop’s convener, Dr.Manju Adhikari and Dr. Salim Javed played a pivotal role in its success.

The third and final day of the workshop was equally promising. The guest speaker for the day was Mr. Kunwar Raj, a highly regarded wrestling coach in the MP State. The day began on a welcoming note, with Dr. Sandeep, the Head of the Department of Physical Education, presenting Mr. Kunwar Raj with a sapling as a symbol of gratitude.

Mr. Kunwar Raj commenced the day with a theoretical session on wrestling. He explained the history, rules, and strategies involved in this combat sport, captivating the audience with his profound knowledge. The participants were engaged and enthusiastic, absorbing every piece of information provided.

The highlight of the day was the practical session on wrestling. Mr. Kunwar Raj demonstrated various wrestling techniques, showcasing the artistry and power involved in the sport. Students from the Department of Physical Education, including Aqdas Saifi, Harshita (BPES 1st year), Harshit Pal (BPES 2nd year), and Amit Bist, Priya Mahara, and Purnima Pant (BPED final year), were particularly impressive. Their dedication and skill level were praised, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. They get opportunity to showcase their skills in other combat sports such as karate, kickboxing, and boxing. These demonstrations further enriched the workshop, highlighting the diversity of talents within the department.

At the end of the workshop, the quiz competition for the students who participated in the workshop took place.

Throughout all three days of the workshop, the entire faculty of the Physical Education Department was present and actively involved. Their support and guidance added immense value to the event. Their commitment to fostering sports education was evident, and they played a crucial role in the success of the workshop.

In conclusion, the three-day combat sports skill workshop was a resounding success. Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Chaudhary and Mr. Kunwar Raj’s expertise and guidance were invaluable in imparting knowledge and skills to the participants.. The unwavering support of the faculty members made the workshop a memorable and enriching experience for all.
