 All India Classical Music and Dance Competition

Students of Subharti University hoisted the flag in All India Classical Music and Dance Competition

The 62nd All India Classical Music and Dance Competition was organized by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj in the memory of Dr. Major Ranjit Singh, in which the students of performing Arts Department of Fine Arts Faculty of Subharti University participated enthusiastically and won many awards. This seven-day competition is organized every year by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, participants from different states participated in this competition. Alia Khan, a student of the performing arts Department of Subharti University, won the first place by presenting Vilambit and Drut Khayal and Taraana in Raga Bageshri in Khayal singing for the youth category. Alima Khan also won the first place by presenting Thumri and Dadra singing styles in the youth category, while in the adolescent category, Nachiketa Sharma won the second place by presenting Khayal singing (Raag Darbari) in the boy category. In the same sequence, Khushi Malhotra in the teen category of Kathak dance presented Dhamar taal in Kathak in a traditional style, in which she got the first position. Vasundhara Sharma won the first prize in the Kathak youth category, she presented Pancham Sawari taal in Kathak, in the same category, Riya Mahotra presented Saraswati Vandana and traditional Kathak performance in Taal Astamangal and “Kahe Ka Mere Ghar Aaye Ho” in Khandita Nayika, in which she got the second position. In the same sequence, Ankit Kumar in the special category of Kathak and Akshat Verma in the teen category gave a wonderful performance on tabla. The beautiful performance of the students mesmerized all the audience present in the auditorium. On the seventh day of the competition, prizes were distributed to all the participants and the students were encouraged.

 On this victory of the students, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Major General Dr. G.K. Thapliyal gave special wishes to all the participants and congratulated the Head of the Department of Performing Arts department, Prof. Dr. Bhawna Grover and all the teachers and said that it is a matter of pride that the students of Subharti University have brought glory to not only the subharti University but also Meerut at the national level by participating in the field of art and culture.

The Head of the Department of Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Pintu Mishra also congratulated all the participating students and sent infinite congratulations to the Head of the Department.
