Awareness Initiative: Combating Corruption Together

The Department of Languages at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a significant workshop on 31st October 2023, Tuesday, “Awareness Initiative: Combating Corruption Together”. The event aimed to raise awareness about the pernicious effects of corruption and promote a culture of integrity among students. It was an enlightening and insightful gathering attended by faculty members and students alike.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Shikha Sharma (M.A. Hindi – Ist year student), who masterfully hosted the program. Dr. Shobha Raturi, the program coordinator, introduced the theme and objectives of the workshop. She highlighted the importance of addressing corruption in our society and its adverse effects on various sectors.

The core of the workshop revolved around the faculty members’ insightful views and experiences on the topic of anti-corruption. Dr.Tushti Sharma (Professor), the Head of the Department, shared her profound insights on the subject. In recognition of her dedicated efforts, she was honored by Dr. Pooja Gupta and was presented with a book as a token of appreciation by Dr. Rajeshwar Pal Chauhan (Professor). This gesture acknowledged her valuable contributions to the department and the cause of anti-corruption.

The cohort enthusiastically applauded Dr. Shobha Raturi for receiving the prestigious “Rashtriya Gaurav Award” in recognition of her outstanding contributions on anti-corruption by Anticorruption Movement Bharat (Regd) organization.

Dr. Rajeshwar Pal Chauhan (Professor) emphasized on the need for moral and ethical standards in all aspects of life. He stressed the role of education in combating corruption.

Other faculty members present, including Dr. Pooja Gupta (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Ashish Kumar Deepankar (Assistant Professor), also shared their thoughts and experiences related to corruption. Each contribution added depth to the understanding of this complex issue.

Following the faculty discussions, students from the Department of Languages actively participated in the event. Students, including Ms. Shikha Sharma, Ms. Chhavi Chaudhary, Ms. Apurvi Mittal, C. Lalmalsawmtluangi and Lalmalsawmtluanga wrote articles on anti-corruption. Their articles demonstrated their understanding of the issue and their commitment to raising awareness.

At the end of the event, an oath was taken by all the faculties and students present to follow the path of anti-corruption. This symbolic commitment underlines our collective determination to promote integrity and ethics in our institution and society.

The workshop on anti-corruption organized by the Department of Languages was a resounding success. It brought together faculty and students to engage in meaningful discussions on the topic. The event served as a catalyst for promoting integrity and ethics within the university community, emphasizing the role of education in fighting corruption. It was a significant step towards building a society free from the scourge of corruption.
