Celebration of Basant Panchami
On the occasion of Basant Panchami 2024, Saraswati Pujan and Vandan was organized at Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, Department of Home Science. Saraswati Puja in honor of the Hindu goddess Saraswati, is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated by people of various religions in the Indian subcontinent. Basant Panchami also marks the start of preparation for Holika and Holi, which take place forty days later.On this occasion, under guidance and supervision of HOD Dr. Nishma Singh, various programs were organized in the department and worship of Maa Saraswati ‘ s portrait and decoration with flowers, making sweet yellow rice for Maa Saraswati, lighting a lamp in front of Maa ‘ s portrait,garlanding, salutation and praise of Maa. Faculty members as Dr. Shalu Nehra, Dr. Neetu Yadav, Ms. Urvashi Sharma and Ms. Swati Sharma actively participated in the celebration of Basant Panchami .Students of both M.Sc. and B.Sc. actively participated in yellow attire to please the goddess and everyone prayed the goddess to give knowledge and wisdom. At the end prasad was distributed among all present in the department.
