Media students can be a game changer in promoting awareness about organic farming-

Promotion of organic farming is very important and students of journalism and mass communication can play a big role in creating public awareness about it. Padmashree Premchand Sharma said this while addressing the students of Journalism and Mass Communication of Swami Vivekananda Subharti University.  He said that there is a lot of potential for innovation in the field of agriculture and horticulture which the youth can fulfill.  Premchand, a progressive farmer from Uttarakhand, said that organic farming and horticulture should get a prominent place in rural journalism.  He explained to the students in detail how we are becoming victims of poisonous pesticides.  Where as this can be easily avoided.  He said that today our soil is becoming poisonous.  If the soil is not healthy then the food grown from it will also be malnourished.  He said that poisonous food grains and fruits are the root cause of increasing diseases today.  To stay healthy, food and fruits grown with organic fertilizers are necessary.

 Premchand Sharma, a farmer from Jaunsar area of ​​Dehradun, was honored with PadmaShree in 2021 by the Government of India for promoting organic farming in the field of agriculture.  Apart from this he has received many awards.  Even today, Sharma is promoting organic farming in his entire area and is earning his income from farming.

He told the students studying journalism that they must do farming in their homes whether it is kitchen garden or rooftop garden. He called for small scale farming and gardening to be included in their daily routine.

Premchand, a resident of Atal village adjacent to Himachal Pradesh, has today become an example for the entire country. People interested in farming come to him from far and wide for training. The Government of Uttarakhand is considering his services for Agriculture and Horticulture University, Bharsar and he has been nominated as a member of the Executive Council and also made him brand ambassador of the state.

67 year old Premchand Sharma still works like a young man. He told the students that the secret of their good health is pure food which is free from pollution.

During this time the students were very impressed by him. Class 5 pass farmer Premchand is a role model for everyone today. He grows apple, pomegranate, papaya, tomato, ginger, turmeric, taro and many off-season vegetables and get good prices.

Earlier, Head of the Department, Prof.(Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi welcomed Padmashree Premchand Sharma and introduced him. He described Prem Chand Sharma as a great agriculture and horticulture expert who is strengthening the villages through farming and animal husbandry with the Indian knowledge tradition.

On this occasion, student from BAJMC 2nd Year Vishesh Sharma gives the vote of thanks and said that they will put into practice the experiences gained from him. Professor Ashok Tyagi, Dr. Gunjan Sharma, Preeti Singh, Madhur Sharma and Ram Prakash Tiwari alongwith students like Manisha, Palak, Astha, Bhumi, Arpit, Vishesh, Harshit, Monu, Suman, Nitesh, Vansh, Anjali, Varsha, and Simran were also present on this occasion.
