The Department of Fashion and Textile Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts hosted a One Day Educational Trip to NATIONAL HANDLOOM INDUSTRIES (Meerut). On Thursday, July 19, 2022. Faculty members Ms. Shradha Yadav and Ms. Anisha Anand accompanied the students of Fashion and Textile Design. At 10:00 a.m., all students were instructed to report to College. Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra, principal and dean, Faculty of Fine Arts wished all of the students a happy and safe voyage. 20 students with 2 faculties left at 10:30 a.m. and arrived at the destination at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Sanjeev Nagar (NITRA Powerloom Service Center & Testing Laboratory Meerut) accompanied us for the visit. There we met Mr. Y.K. Gupta, the owner of the industry. He explained to the students about the working process of the different looms. NATIONAL HANDLOOM INDUSTRIES Manufactures and Export Printed Bedcovers fabric, Printed home furnishings, Mattresses fabric, Knitted puff fabric, Tent fabric, Tracksuits, etc.
Students started their visit with the finishing of the fabric, where they saw the finishing of the fabric like bleaching, Drying, and calendaring fabric. Further, they proceeded towards the power loom area where students saw the constriction of fabric through yarns with the help of the power loom. Proceeded towards the Jacquard Knit fabric machines, these were high-tech machines where a jacquard knit fabric was produced. Students also saw the Apparel Production area where they saw the production of Apparels. The students were exposed to all tools, types of machinery, and equipment used in the textile industry so that in the future they are aware of the machinery, its uses, and techniques. This whole visit cleared the students about the working process of the industries. We thank Mr. Y.K. Gupta who helped and supported us in the accomplishment of this visit and the betterment of the students.
