“Legal Awareness and Sensitization Program”
Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, in collaboration with “District Legal Services Authority Meerut” organized an awareness and sensitization program on 10.04.23 in the premises of Physiotherapy College Subharti University Meerut Subharti Law College Under the direction of Director of the Subharti Law College Mr. Rajesh Chandra (Former Justice, Prayagraj, High Court, Uttar Pradesh) and under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean, Subharti law college and with the support of (Prof.) Dr. Reena Bishnoi on the topic “Eradication of Cervical Cancer, Drugs, Smoking and Alcohol”. The programme started with lamp lighting and welcoming guests by giving plants as a symbol of preserving nature.
The Speakers of the program were Shri Vinod Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Dr. Sushma Prakash Gynecologist, Dr. Saurabh Sharma (Community Medicine Department), Dr. Sartaj Ahmed (Community Medicine Department) Dr. Sarika Tyagi (Convener Law Club) Subharti Law College, Dr. Jasmine Ananda Bai (Principal Physiotherapy College) welcomed. As the first speaker, Dr. Sushma Prakash, while giving information about the topic of cervical cancer, told everyone about its symptoms and the damage caused by it, she also told that in today’s society, there are still such women who does not tell about the disease, she hides whereas if a disease like cancer is detected in the beginning, then a person can get rid of the disease through better treatment. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to consult a doctor immediately after seeing any symptoms of the disease. Sharma talked about the harm caused by alcohol and tobacco and said that various de-addiction centers have been established under Subharti. Under which Subharti Hospital has been spreading awareness through various programs to remove this bad addiction generated in a person in a very easy way and to end this evil from the society, and has been contributing to the society.
After that Dr. Sarika Tyagi told about the activities and functioning of the Free Legal Aid Center established in Subharti Law College and she requested everyone to raise voice to remove evils of smoking and alcoholism from the society. After that Mr. Vinod Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority gave information about “NDPS Act”.
, And it was told how the District Legal Services Authority has been making aware different sections of the society on contemporary issues from time to time. He requested everyone that today’s program will be successful only when all the people present here make other people of the society aware. After that Dr. Sartaj Ahmed informed everyone in detail about “KOTPA Act 2003” and requested that everyone should get information about this act.
Sharing her experience by Dr. Jasmine Ananda Bai (Principal Physiotherapy College), told that how still in this male dominated society, women do not express their illness and neither do men associated with them cooperate with them.
At the end of the program Dr. Kayanat thanked all the guests. Ayesha Praveen, Ranjana Negi, Poonam Dhillon, Mr. Baljit Singh Panel lawyers were present in the programme.
Outcome of the Activity:-
- Participants came to know about Cervical Cancer, its symptoms and causes.
- Participants became informed about the effect of smoking and alcoholism.
