Sports Competition (Chess, Carrom & Badminton)
There are lots of games played at the school and college level to enhance students’ hidden skill and ability. The most common and important games are Cricket, Football, Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Carrom and much more which are popular among students. Skills like teamwork, leadership, patience, discipline, learning from failure, Sportsmanship, etc., are developed only when students play sports on a regular basis, and these skills are equally important when it comes to studies and management, which ultimately lead to skill-building.
In this regard, Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management organized intra-departmental three sports competitions namely ‘Chess’, ‘Carrom’ and ‘Badminton’, under the ‘Gamers’ Club’ on the date April 17-18, 2023. Chess and Carrom sports competitions were held in the Hotel Management department and Badminton Sport Competition on the badminton court in Kotnis Hostel of the University.
Chess Competition was organized in the Hotel Management department on 17 April, 2023 (Monday). Game was started at 10AM in which a total of 06 students participated. In the quarter final round, a total of 4 teams played the game, from which 4 contestants qualified for the Semi-final round of competition. In the semi-final round, two chess games were played (i) between Akash Kumar & Md. Saddam and (ii) between Pankaj Kumar & Md. Arshad Raza. Pankaj Kumar and Akash Kumar were qualified for the final round of competition. Thus, the final round of chess competition was played between Pankaj Kumar (BHMCT 2nd Year) and Akash Kumar (BHMCT 2nd Year). At the end of the game, Mr. Pankaj Kumar became the winner of the Chess Competition.

The Carrom Competition was also organized on April 17, 2023 in the Hotel Management department. The game started at 10 AM in which a total of 12 students participated. The game was conducted separately for first year students and for second year students.
From the first year students, a total of 6 students participated in the carrom competition. In the quarter final round, a total of 4 games were played in which 4 participants qualified for the semi final round. In the semi final round, two games were played between (i) Ms. Pallavi Kumari Vs Ms. Deeplata and (ii) Md. Saddam Vs Md. Meraj, from which two participants qualified for the final round of the game. Thus, the final round was played between Ms. Deepalata Vs Md. Meraj. At the end of the game Ms. Deeplata became the winner of the Carrom competition.
From the second year students, a total of six students participated in the carrom competition game. In the quarter final round, a total of 4 games were played in which 4 participants qualified for the semi final round. In the semi final round, two games were played between (i) Md. Arman Ali Vs Mr. Pankaj Kumar and (ii) Mr. Sunny Kumar Vs Ms. Annu Shree, from which two participants qualified for the final round of the game. Thus, the final round was played between Md. Arman Ali Vs Ms. Annu Shree. At the end of the game, Md. Arman Ali became the winner of the Carrom competition.

The Badminton Competition was held on April 18, 2023 at the Badminton Court in the Kotnis Hostel, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. Game was started at 10AM. The badminton game was conducted in two parts, (i) female participants and (ii) male participants.
Total 5 female students participated in the badminton competition. In the quarter final round, a total of 4 games were played in which 4 participants qualified for the semi final round. In the semi final round, two games were played between (i) Ms. Pallavi Kumari Vs Ms. Jyoti Kumari and (ii) Ms. Deeplata Vs Ms. Shivani Kumari, from which two participants were qualified for the final round of the game. Thus, the final round was played between Ms. Deepalata Vs Ms. Pallavi Kumari. At the end of the game Ms. Deeplata became the winner of the Badminton competition.
Total 8 male students participated in the badminton competition. In the preliminary round a total of 6 games were played. In the quarter final round, a total of 4 games were played in which 4 participants qualified for the semi final round. In the semi final round, two games were played between (i) Md. Meraj Vs Mr. Aryan Gautam and (ii) Md. Saddam Vs Md. Samsad Ali, from which two participants qualified for the final round of the game. Thus, the final round was played between Md. Meraj Vs Md. Saddam. At the end of the game Md. Saddam became the winner of the Badminton competition.

After completion of all the games, Prof. Shiv Mohan Verma, Head of the Institution, Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management, awarded certificates to the winning participants of each game. All the participants were also given participation certificates. Prof. Verma thanked all the participants for actively participating in the game and gave best wishes for the upcoming sports competition and their future endeavors.
