Debate Competition on “Gender-Neutral Cinema: Reality or Illusion?”

 The Gender Sensitization Cell in collaboration with the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, successfully organized a debate competition on the thought-provoking theme “Gender-Neutral Cinema: Reality or Illusion?” The event was held at Bhartendu Harishchandra Conference Hall, 6th Floor, Sujata Bhawan, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various departments.

The competition aimed to create awareness and promote critical discussion among students regarding gender representation in cinema and its impact on society. Participants presented their viewpoints with confidence, analytical depth, and strong communication skills, making the debate engaging and intellectually stimulating.

The event was judged by Dr. Preeti Singh, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Ashutosh Verma, Assistant Professor, who evaluated the participants on the basis of content, presentation, confidence, and clarity of thought. During their address, the judges appreciated the students for their well-researched arguments and encouraged them to remain socially aware and sensitive towards gender-related issues in media and society.

Mr. Ram Prakash Tiwari also shared his valuable insights on the topic and guided students about the evolving role of cinema in shaping public perception and social attitudes. He emphasized the responsibility of media professionals in promoting balanced and inclusive representation.

In the competition, Priyanshi Bhatia from BAJMC 2nd Year secured the First Position, Harshita Nishad from BNYS 4th Year secured the Second Position, while Samiya from BA Hons. English 2nd Year and Deepak Kumar from BNYS 4th Year jointly secured the Third Position. The winners were appreciated for their excellent performance and strong articulation of ideas.
