Breast Cancer Awareness Programme report
Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College (PDMSNC), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Programme on 23 October 2026, from 11 AM to 3 PM, at LT-1, PDMSNC, and the Oncology Radiation OPD, Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital (CSSH). The programme aimed to create awareness about breast cancer, its warning signs and symptoms, the importance of early detection, timely diagnosis, and available treatment options. The guest speaker, Dr. Fatima Zohra Khatoon from the Department of Radiation Oncology, delivered an informative session covering diagnostic approaches, management options, the role of radiation oncology, and common myths and facts about breast cancer.
A total of 80 students from M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Nursing, and GNM programmes actively participated in the awareness activities. The students performed role plays to communicate important breast cancer awareness messages, conducted health education sessions for patients and patient attendants in the Oncology Radiation OPD at CSSH, distributed pamphlets highlighting breast cancer signs and symptoms, early detection, and treatment options, and presented educational charts illustrating breast cancer warning signs and available treatment modalities. These activities helped strengthen the students’ health education and communication skills while promoting awareness among patients and their attendants. The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal, PDMSNC, reflecting the institution’s commitment to health promotion, patient education, and community health awareness.
