Journalism department Organized Awareness Program on Climate Change
Meerut: Swami Vivekanand Subharti University’s Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with Azad Hind Radio 90.0 FM, organized an awareness program on climate change at Sarita Public School, Puttha, Meerut. The program was conducted as part of participation-based activities through community radio to spread awareness about climate change and its impact on society. The initiative was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ritesh Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Addressing the gathering, Program Coordinator and keynote speaker Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam shared valuable insights about the climate change project. He explained that the primary objective of the program was to educate people about climate change and its harmful effects on the environment and human life. Dr. Gautam emphasized that radio plays a significant role in spreading awareness among the masses regarding climate change and its adverse consequences. He further stated that Swami Vivekanand Subharti University and Azad Hind Radio have jointly initiated a collective effort to protect the environment, and active participation from the community is essential to make this campaign successful.
Dr. Gautam remarked that if society wishes to ensure a safe and secure future for coming generations, it is important to maintain and protect the present climate and environmental balance. He encouraged students and citizens to adopt eco-friendly habits and contribute towards environmental conservation.
Sarita Public School Manager Advocate Sarvesh Kumar stated that protecting the environment is a moral responsibility of every individual, and collective as well as personal efforts are necessary to address climate-related challenges. School Principal Mamta Singh, while speaking on the occasion, emphasized the importance of proper utilization of natural resources and avoiding unnecessary consumption of energy. She highlighted the need to promote renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and hydroelectric projects. She further added that responsible use of electricity, water, and transportation can significantly help in combating climate change.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Co-Coordinator of the project, Dr. Ashutosh Verma, while the program was conducted by Assistant Professor Ram Prakash Tiwari from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
The successful organization of the program was appreciated by the Chief Executive Officer of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma. Assistant Professor Tarun Jain, student Tushar Kumar, and non-teaching staff members Sanjay Pal, Kapil Gill, and Kuldeep also contributed to the successful execution of the event. Teachers of Sarita Public School, including Vinit Basuta, Aanchal, Jyoti, Poonam, Pooja Verma, Parul Chaudhary, Shubhangi, and Lalit, were also present along with the students.
