Department of Medicine in association with the Department of Microbiology has organized a World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) event to raise public awareness of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. The event has been organized from 18-24th November 2021.
The WAAW event had several activities such as a booth set up at Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital, was present outside the enquiry office daily from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm which involved fun learning and activity stations sharing basic facts about bacteria, viruses, antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, and good hygiene practices, including vaccination and handwashing. Another activity was also organized in SMC Council Hall on 23rd November 2021, in which, there were 95 offline participants and 5 online participants ( a total of 100)
The event marked the collaboration between both the departments answering questions and dispelling the myths and misconceptions about antibiotics. Get up close with the consultants to learn more about various types of infections and roles of antibiotics and to prevent rational use of antibiotics.
