A one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “AI in Fine Arts Education: Transforming Creativity, Teaching and Learning” was organized by Department of Fine arts, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut at Amrita Shergil Conference Hall on 11-9-2026. The programme aimed to familiarize faculty members with the emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in fine arts, creative practice and education.
The programme began with an inaugural session of Lighting of the lamp in the presence of Chief Guest Principal and Dean Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra, Head Prof. Dr. Pooja Gupta, Heads of other departments, faculty members and participants. In the welcome address, Dr. Anshu Srivastav highlighted the growing importance of technological innovation in education and emphasized the need for educators to understand and responsibly adopt emerging AI tools.
The keynote session was profound by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary HOD – Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Haryana focused on the changing landscape of Fine Arts education in the age of Artificial Intelligence. The resource person explained how generative AI can support artistic ideation, visualization, experimentation and the development of innovative teaching-learning practices. The session also discussed the importance of maintaining human creativity, artistic judgment and originality while using AI-assisted technologies.
A special hands-on session was enlightened by Mr. Jatin, Assistant Manager (Marketing & Communication) Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut in which he introduced participants to AI-enabled creative tools and their applications in visual art and design. Faculty members explored techniques for developing creative concepts, generating visual references, experimenting with styles and compositions, and using effective prompts for artistic exploration.
The programme also addressed the use of AI in teaching and learning, including lesson planning, creation of digital learning resources, classroom activities, personalized learning and assessment. Participants were encouraged to explore ways in which AI can complement, rather than replace, traditional artistic practices and pedagogical approaches.
The interactive component of the FDP provided participants with an opportunity to design AI-integrated learning activities relevant to their respective areas of Fine Arts. Group discussions and presentations encouraged the exchange of ideas and experiences regarding the practical implementation of AI in classrooms and studio-based learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean Prof. Dr. Pintu Mishra emphasized the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in higher education and creative disciplines. The Dean stated that AI should be viewed not merely as a technological tool but as an emerging resource that can complement the imagination, creativity, and skills of artists and educators. The FDP was appreciated as an important initiative for preparing faculty members to respond effectively to the changing technological and educational environment.
The Head of the Department of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Pooja Gupta highlighted the significance of integrating AI with Fine Arts education. The HOD stated that the purpose of the FDP was to encourage faculty members to explore new possibilities of technology while preserving the fundamental values of artistic creativity and critical thinking. The HOD further emphasized that the responsible use of AI can support teachers and students in experimentation, visualization, research, documentation, and innovative approaches to art-making and pedagogy.
The programme witnessed active participation and interaction among faculty members. The participants gained practical and conceptual insights into the possibilities of AI and its relevance to contemporary Fine Arts education. The FDP concluded with a vote of thanks to the university authorities, Dean, resource persons, faculty members, and all participants for their valuable contribution to the successful organization of the programme.
The programme concluded with a reflection session in which participants identified practical strategies for incorporating AI into their teaching, creative practice and research. Participants appreciated the programme for providing a balanced understanding of both the creative possibilities and ethical challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence.
The Head of Department Fine Arts expressed gratitude to the resource persons, institution authorities, organizing committee and participants for their valuable contribution to the successful conduct of the programme. Certificates of participation were distributed to the participants at the conclusion of the FDP.
The programme marked an important step towards promoting technology-enabled, innovative and responsible Fine Arts education, while reaffirming the central role of human creativity and artistic expression in the evolving educational landscape.
