Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi remembered on his Birth Anniversary
Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut’s Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism and Mass Communication remembered martyred journalist Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi on his 134th birth anniversary with a lecture. During this, students, teachers and non-teaching staff paid tribute to Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi by offering flowers and lighting lamps on his photograph.
Speaking at this event organized in the multi-purpose Hall of the department, editor of Saptahik Prabhat Prof. Ashok Tyagi said that Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi has made an invaluable and incomparable contribution in the field of journalism. Before losing his life in a communal riot at a very young age, he also played an active role in the freedom movement of the nation and gave protection to many activists. He gave a formula to the people of journalism in which he used to say that in journalism, news should be written and printed keeping in mind the evidence as well as the result.
During this, Head of the Department Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi said that today there is a dearth of journalists like Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi in the world of journalism. While performing his journalistic responsibilities, he sacrificed his life by sacrificing everything to save people and calm down the communal riots in Kanpur. This shows that journalists should not only do journalism but they should also fulfill their social responsibilities. Young journalists should keep in mind that they should not forget their human duty while reporting any incident.
During this, Assistant Professor of Journalism Department Ram Prakash Tiwari, Shelly Sharma, Shikeb Majeed along with non-teaching staff Prince Chauhan, Sanjay Pal, Bijendra, Kuldeep and all the students of the department were present.
