International Conference on Transforming Libraries for Viksit Bharat 2047: Advancing Digital Innovation Services in Higher Education, Public and Community Libraries (SVSU – ICTL 2025)
The Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, successfully organized International Conference on Transforming Libraries for Viksit Bharat 2047: Advancing Digital Innovation Services in Higher Education, Public and Community Libraries (SVSU-ICTL 2025) on 21–22 November 2025 in collaboration with the Society for Information Research & Studies (SIR), New Delhi. This conference was sponsored by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Distinguished speakers from India and abroad graced the conference, sharing invaluable perspectives on emerging trends and innovations in library and information science. Eminent professionals representing NITI Aayog, TERI, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Jawaharlal Nehru University, the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Delhi Public Library, and the Allahabad High Court were among the key contributors. International delegates from Estonia, United States of America, Canada, Bhutan, and France also participated, enriching the deliberations with their global insights.
Aligned with India’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047, the conference emphasized the pivotal role of libraries in building a knowledge-driven, inclusive, and progressive society. Major themes discussed included the application of cutting-edge technologies—such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital repositories, and open educational resources—to democratize information access and foster digital equity across urban and rural contexts.
The event also underlined the importance of preserving and integrating Indian Knowledge Systems, bridging the digital divide, and developing sustainable, future-ready library infrastructures. Special attention was given to how libraries across higher education, public, and community settings can promote literacy, research, innovation, and lifelong learning through advanced digital services and community outreach programs.
As part of the conference, 15 awards were presented to library professionals in recognition of their lifelong and outstanding contributions to the field of Library and Information Science.
More than 110 national and international papers were presented and published in the conference proceedings. More than 300 participants including research scholars, students, library professionals, and scientists from 12 states of India and 5 foreign countries attended the event and shared their research work. Over two days, five technical sessions provided a platform for enriching discussions and exchange of ideas among experts and participants.
