Historic MoU to Promote the Ideals of Swami Vivekananda — A New Direction to Academic and Cultural Collaboration between  Swami Vivekanand Research Chair, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut  and  Ajay Kumar Das Seva Sansthan & Research Centre, Kolkata 

In a significant and commendable initiative aimed at promoting the noble ideals, teachings, life values, and humanitarian vision of Swami Vivekananda on a wider scale, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Swami Vivekanand Research Chair, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut and the Ajay Kumar Das Seva Sansthan& Research Centre, Kolkata. This historic collaboration has been established to strengthen mutual cooperation in the fields of education, research, innovation, and social service, and is expected to serve as a milestone in disseminating the thoughts and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda among the masses.

This MoU is not merely a formal agreement but represents a confluence of ideas, values, and shared objectives between two esteemed institutions. It aims to provide a new direction to education and social service by embodying Swami Vivekananda’s vision, wherein education is regarded not just as a means of acquiring knowledge but as a foundation for character building and nation-building.

On this significant occasion, the MoU was formally signed by Gp. Cpt. M. Yaqoob, Registrar, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, and Shri Sevabrata Das, Trustee & Chief Executive Officer, Ajay Kumar Das Seva Sansthan & Research Centre, Kolkata. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra, Professor and Convener, Swami Vivekanand Research ChairSVSU whose guidance and inspiration played a vital role in making this collaboration possible. The program was conducted in a highly dignified and cordial atmosphere, with the participation of several eminent personalities from the fields of education, research, and social service.

Distinguished guests, faculty members, research scholars, students, and followers of Swami Vivekananda present on the occasion appreciated this initiative and described it as a visionary and timely step. They emphasized that in today’s world, where there is a growing need for moral values, spiritual perspective, and positive leadership, such initiatives are highly relevant and inspiring.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra elaborated on the objectives of the MoU and stated that this collaboration would provide a new direction to research and academic activities. She highlighted that both institutions will jointly organize research projects, national and international seminars, workshops, conferences, and lecture series to facilitate a deep, analytical, and scholarly understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy.

She further emphasized that this initiative will not be confined to theoretical knowledge but will also focus on developing leadership qualities, social responsibility, ethics, and human values among students. It will inspire them to adopt a positive outlook, self-confidence, and a spirit of service in their lives.

Under the MoU, special emphasis has been laid on academic initiatives. Both institutions will collaboratively design innovative courses, certificate programs, training workshops, and lecture series aimed at promoting Swami Vivekananda’s message of universal brotherhood, selfless service, self-reliance, nationalism, and spiritual upliftment. These programs will ensure the development of moral values, discipline, dedication, and social commitment among students.

Furthermore, the partnership will also focus on strengthening examination and evaluation systems to ensure a balanced, comprehensive, and transparent assessment of students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding. This initiative will significantly contribute to enhancing quality, innovation, and excellence in education.

Through this MoU, both institutions will actively engage in various social and community welfare activities. Special programs will be conducted for youth empowerment, women empowerment, rural development, skill development, and the upliftment of underprivileged sections of society. Thus, this collaboration will serve as an exemplary model of the integration of education and social service.

In addition, both institutions will promote internships, fieldwork, and community service programs, enabling students to gain practical exposure and better understand their social responsibilities. This effort will guide them towards becoming responsible, aware, and sensitive citizens.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University expressed their happiness over this significant agreement and described it as a commendable and visionary initiative. They stated that the MoU would not only strengthen academic and research activities but also play a crucial role in disseminating Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, moral values, and spirit of service to a wider section of society. Appreciating the joint efforts of both institutions, they expressed confidence that this collaboration would set new benchmarks in innovation, excellence, and social responsibility. They also extended their heartfelt best wishes and blessings for the successful implementation of this initiative, describing it as an inspiring and exemplary step for society.

At the conclusion of the program, all dignitaries and participants congratulated both institutions for this significant initiative and expressed their best wishes.
