PLANTED TREES IN THE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

UNDER THE ‘EK PED MAA KE NAAM’
Plant a tree in the name of Mother Earth.
It is not easy to bear Mother’s anger.
Otherwise the future consequences will be worse than the present,
Plant a tree in the name of Mother Earth.
The Department of Languages under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut planted trees in the university campus on 09/08/2024 under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in New Delhi on June 5, 2024. Earth is considered as mother in India. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign symbolizes the protection of the earth’s environment by afforestation to prevent land degradation, soil erosion and falling water level. Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, said that these diverse aspects of the Jamun (Java Plum/Indian Blackberry) tree show that it is not only a delicious fruit-providing tree, but also helps in protecting the environment with religious, cultural, and health perspectives.
Mr. A.C. Pathak, Head, Department of Horticulture, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University said that the inspiration to make the environment green has always been the collective resolution of country and has been creating history through public participation. Expressing his feelings, he said that:
I am in a huge debt to you,
How do I repay it?
Under the shade of trees, Maa,
I will massage your feet.
I take a pledge that
I will do something for you.
Why not me too plant,
A tree in your name, Maa.
On this occasion, Head, Department of Languages, Dr. Seema Sharma said that the Jamun fruit is rich in vitamin C, iron, potassium and it is an anti-oxidant. This fruit provides many essential nutrients to the body and strengthens the immune system.
On this occasion of tree plantation, the Head of the Language Department, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Manisha Luthra, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Prof. Rajeswar Pal, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Ms. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Ashish Kumar ‘Deepankar’, Dr. Farah Hashmi, Dr. Anuj Bawra and Dr. Nishi Raghav were present. In the end, all of the teachers and students of Language Department were administered an oath to plant at least ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
