Report on Reading Pledge and E-Quiz Organised under P. N. Panicker National Reading Day and Digital Reading Month–2026
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences & Central Library organized Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, the Reading Pledge and E-Quiz Competition as part of P. N. Panicker National Reading Day and Digital Reading Month–2026. The objective of the programme was to promote a reading culture among students and teachers, create awareness about the effective use of digital resources, and strengthen the spirit of lifelong learning.
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In his address, he stated that books are the most effective medium for developing an individual’s knowledge, ideas, and personality. He encouraged students to cultivate the habit of regular reading and to make maximum use of both printed and digital knowledge resources.
On this occasion, Dr. Tarak Nath Prasad administered the Reading Pledge to the students and faculty members. All participants pledged to read regularly, contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, and promote the culture of reading in society.
As part of the programme, an Online E-Quiz Competition was also organised in which students and faculty members participated enthusiastically. The quiz included questions related to reading culture, general knowledge, and digital reading. The participants demonstrated their excellent knowledge and intellectual abilities.
The programme was attended by the Heads of various Departments of FASS, including Dr. Tarak Nath, Dr. Seema Sharma, Colonel Rajesh Tyagi, and faculty members Dr. Monika Malhotra, Dr. Santosh Gautam, Dr. Rafat, Dr. Mohini, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Manisha, Dr. Swati, Dr. Sarita, Dr. Preeti, Dr. Valli, and Dr. Ajay. Students from various departments of the faculty, along with NCC cadets of the SVSU, of the SVSU also participated enthusiastically.
All present appreciated such initiatives for fostering reading habits, intellectual development, and a strong knowledge culture among students. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Kiran Panwar and Dr. Ashutosh Kushwaha. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants, encouraging them to continue regular reading and make effective use of digital knowledge resources.
