Value Added Course 2025-2026“Folk Arts of India/ Indian Knowledge System / Rastra Bodh” in Department of Fine Arts
Department of Fine Arts ,Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut has conducted ten days value added course program from entitled “Folk Arts of India/ Indian Knowledge System/ Rastra Bodh” from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This value added course “Folk Arts of India/ Indian Knowledge System/ Rastra Bodh” formulates to enhance skills in students and increase the opportunity of employability and awareness regarding our roots and tradition. Folk arts refer to the traditional art forms practiced by rural and indigenous communities. These include paintings, music, dance, crafts, and theatre that are passed down from generation to generation. They are usually created using locally available materials and are closely connected with festivals, rituals, and daily life. It includes Madhubani Painting from Bihar, Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh and Miniature from Rajasthan and Pahari regions.
India is a land of rich cultural diversity, where every region has its own unique traditions, customs, and artistic expressions. Folk arts are an integral part of this heritage, reflecting the life, beliefs, and creativity of local communities. A Value Added Course on Folk Arts of India aims to preserve, promote, and provide deeper understanding of these traditional art forms among students. To improve their knowledge and skills, different art technique were arranged in the value added course. Approx one hundred and twenty eight students got knowledge about all these techniques of folk arts of India. To evaluate the knowledge gain by the student’s pre test and post test was conducted for all the students and on the basis of marks the students are awarded with certificates of grade. The course was conducted in the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Gupta HoD and over all in charge of Value Added Course, assists by Dr. Anshu Srivastava course coordinator and all the faculty members of Fine Arts Department. To encourage students, work were exhibited and displayed. This course is organized in the guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Pintu Mishra Dean and Principal NBSCFF. He mentions that the term “value-added” suggests that these courses provide extra value to students by supplementing their primary education and expanding their horizons. It plays a crucial role in enhancing students’ educational experiences and preparing them for success in a rapidly evolving world. By offering these courses, we expressour commitment to providing comprehensive and holistic learning opportunities that empower students to thrive in both their personal and professional lives. Ms. Priyanka Singh, Mr. Dhramraj Gupta, Mr. lakshay Kumar and Mr. lucky tyagi helps to conduct the programme. Dipul, Tarushi, Anmol, Prateek, Mamta, Ayushi, Aparna, Adya, Anchal, shristi, chetan, Avni, Arjun, Neha, Aditi, Shuruti and Prakrti did the work with full of enthusiasm.
