Workshop on Health and Hygiene for Staff
Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, Department of Home Science organized a one-day training-cum-workshop on Health and Hygiene for its teaching and non-teaching employees of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut on 17th May 2025. The session was held at the Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Hall of the Department of Home Science and witnessed active participation from staff across various departments. The workshop aimed to create awareness about essential precautionary measures and hygiene practices necessary in day-to-day life, particularly focusing on safety in kitchens, offices, and homes. Expert from the field of health sciences and home science led interactive sessions covering topics such as: Proper sanitation and cleanliness in food preparation areas, safe storage and handling of edibles, office hygiene protocols to prevent infections, personal hygiene and its role in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, first-aid preparedness at home and in the workplace. The event coordinator Ms.Swati Sharma emphasized the importance of consistent hygiene practices in reducing the risk of illnesses and ensuring a healthy environment for all. Demonstrations on hand hygiene, waste disposal, and cleanliness audits were also conducted to encourage hands-on learning. Speaking on the occasion, the Head of the Department of Home Science Dr. Nishma Singh, highlighted the university’s commitment to staff welfare and public health awareness. “Through initiatives like this, we aim to equip our employees with the knowledge and habits necessary for a safe and healthy lifestyle,” she stated. Faculty members Dr Shalu Nehra, Dr.Shruti Pokhriyal, Ms.Urvashi Sharma and Ms. Rupanshi Garg actively participated in the event. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants clarified their doubts and shared real-life experiences related to workplace and domestic hygiene. This initiative marks yet another step by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University towards promoting a culture of health consciousness and safety among its community.
