Workshop on Papadam Crafting
The Homemade Delights – Papadam Crafting Session was successfully conducted on 21 March 2025 under the flagship of the Janaky Athi Nahppan Incubation Center by Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science. The workshop aimed to develop entrepreneurial skills, support the cottage industry, and promote the Vocal for Local and Made in India initiatives. Ms. Urvashi Sharma, the resource person and program coordinator, provided hands-on training to the participants, guiding them through the traditional process of making Papadam. The session emphasized the business potential of homemade products, inspiring students to explore self-employment opportunities.
The session was highly practical, allowing participants to engage in the complete Papadam making process. The workshop saw active participation from students, who enthusiastically engaged in the process. They not only gained practical knowledge but also developed an understanding of how such small-scale production can lead to entrepreneurial opportunities. The session successfully highlighted the importance of utilizing locally available resources for business ventures, encouraging participants to consider starting their own initiatives. The event was conducted with the strong support of faculty members, and the guidance of Dr. Nishma Singh, Head of Department, played a significant role in ensuring its success. Such initiatives play a crucial role in motivating individuals to embrace entrepreneurship, contributing to the larger vision of a self-reliant India.
