Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, in collaboration with the Subharti Nursing College, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), observes World Breastfeeding Week with Community Outreach Program at Rohta Village
Meerut, August 1, 2025 – On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week (1st–7th August 2025), the Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science, in collaboration with the Subharti Nursing College, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), organized a community outreach visit to the Community Health Centre, Rohta Village.
The objective of the visit was to promote maternal and child health by providing counselling to pregnant and lactating women, and spreading awareness about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. A group of around 30 students from both the Department of Home Science and Subharti Nursing College actively participated in the initiative. The students distributed informative pamphlets and engaged in one-on-one interactions with community members to highlight the vital role of breastfeeding in infant development and maternal well-being.
The visit was led by Dr. Shalu Nehra, Faculty Member, Department of Home Science, and Ms. Priya, Faculty, Subharti Nursing College. Both faculty members played an instrumental role in conducting counselling sessions and sensitizing the women of the community about breastfeeding practices, nutritional care, and mother-infant bonding.
