World Environment Day Celebration

The World Environment Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and commitment to raising awareness about environmental conservation in the green campus of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University on 5th June 2024. The event was organised by the university environment committee. Dr. Mukesh Ruhela, chairman university environment welcomed the eminets guests and brief about different activities were designed to engage and educate participants on the importance of protecting our natural surroundings. The event started with the Birds Uncaging ceremony done by Hon’ble V C Major general Dr G K Thaplial, Respected CEO Ma’am Dr Shalya Raj, University Environment committee members, student council members of university, all deans and faculty members of different colleges. Dr G K Thaplial, and Dr Shalya Raj expressed their views on the need for conservation of forest resources and environmental friendly pratices and praised this symbolic act that represented freedom and the importance of wildlife conservation that is present around all of us . Birds were released into their natural habitat, emphasizing the message of living in harmony with nature. After that a tree plantation drive was organized where different dignitaries planted variety of saplings around the campus.This activity aimed to promote afforestation and contribute to increasing green cover . Each tree planted was tagged with the name of the participant to encourage ongoing care and responsibility. Dr. Vinay Sethi, an esteemed environmentalist, delivered an inspiring lecture on “The Role of Individuals Birds Conservation” specially for “Gauryya bird”.The lecture covered topics such as sustainable living practices, the impact of climate change, and ways to reduce carbon footprints.Dr. Sethi also motivated all the listeners, and provided insights on how each person can contribute to preserving the environment.Students performed a skit that highlighted the effects of pollution and deforestation.The performance depicted a future scenario where environmental neglect led to disastrous consequences, urging the audience to take immediate action.The skit was well-received and served as a powerful visual reminder of the day’s message.Participants created short video reels focusing on various environmental themes.The competition encouraged creativity and the use of social media to spread awareness.Entries were judged based on creativity, message impact, and overall presentation. The winners of competition were Kriti Garg and team from Subharti Dental College and runner-up was Nishtha Shrivastava from Subharti Engineering College. The winners were awarded certificates and eco-friendly prizes.The programmed was orgenized by University Environment Committee comprising of Dr. Mukesh Ruhela chairman, Dr. Sanchit Pradhan member secretory, members of the committee are Er. Krishna Kumar Sharma, Dr. Sweta Bhardwaj, Dr. Gaurab Sharma, Dr. Ashwarya Rai, Dr. Jyoti Mdhur, Dr. Amit Kumar. The World Environment Day celebration successfully engaged participants in activities that promoted environmental awareness and conservation. The presence of distinguished guests such as Dr. Vinay Sethi, the Vice Chancellor, and the CEO added significance to the event. The combination of educational and interactive sessions ensured that the message of environmental stewardship was effectively communicated. Overall, the event was a step forward in fostering a culture of sustainability within our community.
