Report on Yoga Workshop on the Occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026
Theme: “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
On 17 June 2026, Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College and Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (MASCHNYS), under Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a Yoga Workshop from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Major Dhyan Chand Department of Physical Education, SVSU, Meerut, in observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026.
The workshop was conducted in alignment with the International Day of Yoga 2026 theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health through the practice of yoga. The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for maintaining vitality, enhancing quality of life, and supporting healthy ageing through a balanced and stress-free lifestyle.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Annu, Assistant Professor, MASCHNYS, who guided the participants through various yogic practices and explained their significance in maintaining overall health and wellness. She emphasized the role of yoga in promoting physical strength, flexibility, mental clarity, emotional stability, and healthy ageing.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to a series of yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, and relaxation practices. The session highlighted the benefits of regular yoga practice in improving flexibility, enhancing concentration, reducing stress, and fostering mental and emotional balance. Special emphasis was placed on how yoga can contribute to healthy ageing by improving mobility, maintaining functional fitness, and promoting overall well-being throughout different stages of life.
A total of 11 faculty members participated in the workshop. The participants enthusiastically took part in all the yoga practices and actively engaged in the session. The workshop created a positive and energetic atmosphere, encouraging attendees to adopt yoga as a regular part of their lifestyle for better health and longevity.
The programme concluded successfully with a message emphasizing that yoga is a powerful tool for achieving healthy ageing, physical fitness, mental peace, and holistic well-being. Participants were encouraged to continue practicing yoga regularly and to spread awareness about its benefits among their families and communities.
