AVGSCMC organized a career counseling Session on “Career Prospects in Geoinformatics” on December 6, 2021, at 11.00 AM in LT-1

Objectives of the event
The objective of the event was to update the students about various career opportunities
Brief of the activity

The counseling session on “Career Prospects in Geoinformatics” was organized by AVGSCMC, Career Counselling Cell of the AVGSCMC in association with University Career Counselling Cell.
Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Ghai Chairperson of University Career Counselling Cell, Dean FOMC & Director AVGSCMC, inaugurated the event. All members of the college Career Counselling Cell, faculty members, and students of UG and PG programs participated in the event.
The speaker of the event was Mr. Ravindra Nath Tiwari, HOD, NIGMT Foundation, Dwarka, New Delhi.
71 participants (10 Faculty members and 61 students) of AVGSCMC including all programs participated in the event.
Mr. Ravindrs Nath Pandey explained that Geoinformatics is a branch of science and technology that uses information science as a foundation for discussing geography, cartography, geology, and other branches of engineering, science, and technology. Some may refer to geoinformatics as geographic information sciences or GIS. Geoinformatics uses a variety of technologies to analyze geological information including:

  • Geographic information systems
  • Remote sensing technology
  • Global positioning systems
  • Spatial support systems

He explained the following career opportunities such as GIS technician, Environmental technician, CAD drafter, Land Surveyor, Geologist, Urban Planner, Cartographers, Geographers, and Geographers are some of the prominent job profiles available in the field of geoinformatics.
Outcome
The event was highly informative for the students. They understood various career opportunities available in the field of Geoinformatics.
