International Conference “ATITHI 2021“ organized by Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University was held on the 10th of April 2021, following all the COVID-19 protocols laid by the Government. On this occasion, Experts from the Hospitality and Tourism Industry presented their views on the subject of “Modern Technology and Innovation in Hotel Management and Tourism”. The book of the conference (ATITHI-2021) was released during this event. 73 research papers were presented in various technical sessions. The event was anchored by Ms. Garima Jain Goel.
The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest, Chef Davinder Kumar, Vice President (Food Production) and Executive Chef Le Meridian, Guest of Honor Mr. Vaibhav Sharma, Food Safety Officer, Meerut and the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Prof. (Dr.) V.P. Singh with Prof. R.C. Pandey, Dean, Hotel Management, Graphic Era University, and Dr. Vijay Wadhavan – Pro Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University by lighting the lamp in front of Maa Saraswati.
Dr. Shiv Mohan Verma, Head of the Institution, Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management and organizing chairman of 6th International Conference, welcomed the Chief Guest Chef Davinder Kumar by presenting a sapling.
Chief Guest Chef Davinder Kumar, while addressing the conference said that India has a unique influence from different mixed cultures.
We always welcome and honour guests in our country with the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhavah”. He said that the field of tourism is very wide and has immense employment opportunities and this industry is playing an important role in increasing the GDP of India. He gave students detailed knowledge about the changes in the hotel industry due to COVID-19 and made them aware of the future opportunities. He also praised everyone for the patent of the Double Tandoor with Hot Plate. Chef Davinder enlightened the attendees with the techniques of cooking in detail and imparted his knowledge about the use of spices to make different dishes flavourful and aromatic.
Food Safety Officer, Mr. Vaibhav Sharma said that it is necessary for the students to have all the information about the purity of the food items. He said that all the students should be aware of the Food Act and while purchasing food items from the market, the date and quality of the product should be checked. He said that the objective of the Food Safety Department is the availability of pure food to all.
Dr. Shiv Mohan Verma, the Chief Organizer of the International Conference, said that this is the sixth International Conference of the college in which the experts of Hotel and Tourism Industry enhanced the knowledge of the students and other participants. He mentioned that a total of 73 research papers were registered from different states and that the objective of organizing the conference is to make the students aware of the advanced technologies in the field of hotel management and tourism. During the program, Chief Guest Chef Devinder Kumar presented his book on Cooking to Dr. Shiv Mohan.
Selected dignitaries were honoured with an award for outstanding work in the field of hospitality and tourism.
