Independence Day 2025 Celebration as Prayer and Resolution Day in Subharti University, Meerut

Like every year, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated as Prayer and Resolution Day in Swami VivekanandSubharti University, Meerut this year as well. On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Director General of the University jointly hoisted the flag. During this, Executive Officer of the University Dr. Krishnamurthy, Vice Chancellor Colonel Dr. DevendraSwaroop, Registrar Group Captain M. Yakub, Syed ZafarHussain, Deans and Directors of different faculties were also present. During this, the national flag was saluted by the contingent of cadets of 70 UP Battalion of NCC and the national anthem was presented by the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

ddressing the audience present in the programme, Director General of the University, Major General (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal SM (Retd.) said that even after attaining independence in 1947, our freedom is still incomplete. If we want complete freedom, then we have to be mentally and financially free as well. We have to become self-reliant in every field. He said that we have to show our devotion towards the nation and take an oath to always perform our duties honestly. We have to replace the hatred and distrust prevailing in the society with love and compassion. He also thanked Dr. Atul Krishna, the founder of the Subharti Group, for the idea of organizing Prayer and Resolution Day for the families who suffered the brunt of Partition in Subharti University on the occasion of Independence Day and said that the founder started celebrating Independence Day as Prayer and Resolution Day in this institution as a day for prayer and resolution for the solace of the families who suffered the brunt of Partition in 1947. This shows that we should always be ready to help the families who suffered this pain.

On this occasion, Dr. Munis Reddy, Dean of the Student Welfare of the University, gave a brief description of the work of the Student Council of the University and introduced everyone to the members of the Student Council. During this, the e-launch of the newsletter of the Student Council of the University was done by the Vice Chancellor, Director General and Executive Officer of the University.

In his address, the Executive Officer of the University, Dr. Krishnamurthy told the audience present in the programme that as a collective effort of the Medical College, Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and other related departments of the University has been initiated in the university to start drug de-addiction center and old age home in the University. Speaking further, he also said that Subharti Hospital has also reduced the prices of PAT-CT test so that the treatment of a disease like cancer can be done on time and we can help the patients.

Speaking on this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Sharma said that today if we want to take our nation forward and pay true tribute to the heroes of our freedom movement, then we have to build the India of their dreams. We not only have to adopt their values but also have to preserve and cherish them. During this, he also administered an oath to everyone to make new inventions and serve the people. He further said that we can become Vishwaguru and truly independent only when our country becomes self-reliant.

In the programme, the students of IshwarchandraVidyasagarShramikVidyalaya, running in the university campus, gave a beautiful presentation of various yogasanas on the song VandeMataram. It was welcomed and appreciatedby everyone with applause and encouraged the children.

At the end of the programme, the winners of various competitions and activities organized under the HarGharTirangaAbhiyan were also honoured by giving certificates.

The programme was anchored by Dr. Preeti Singh, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, while the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Programme Coordinator, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi paid thanks to everybody present in the audience. In his address, Dr. Tyagi thanked the University Management and the Vice Chancellor and said that under the inspiration of the founder of the University and the guidance of the Vice Chancellor, all of us have been able to celebrate Independence Day as a day of prayer and resolution. He further said that today we should not only take a resolution but also make this resolution a reality and wherever we find a person from a family suffering from the disaster of Partition or the family of the heroes of the freedom struggle, we should help them in every possible way as per our capability. Education, service, culture and nationalism are also the essence of the motto of Swami VivekanandSubharti University. At the end of the programme, the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts also presented the national song VandeMataram.

During this, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Mittal, Dr. Nikhil Srivastava, Dr. Sokindra Kumar, Dr. Pintu Mishra, Dr. R.K. Ghai, Dr. ManojKapil, Dr. SandeepChaudhary, R.P. Singh, Colonel Rajesh Tyagi, Dr. GeetaParvanda, Dr. Jasmine Anandabai, Dr. S.C. Tiwari, Dr. Deshraj Singh, Dr. A.P. Garg, Dr. AmitPunia and Heads of various departments and teachers, non-teaching staff and students were present along with cadets of NCC, NSS and SubhartiDefence Academy.
