Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law conducted an educational trip to a Drug De-addiction Centre under the esteemed guidance of Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Chandra, Director (Former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad), and Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Law, on the occasion of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
As part of experiential learning and social awareness, students were taken on an educational visit to a Drug De-Addiction Centre. The objective of the visit was to sensitize students about substance abuse, its harmful effects on individuals and society, and the rehabilitation process adopted for recovery. The activity aimed to provide practical exposure beyond classroom teaching and to encourage empathy, social responsibility, and awareness about legal and social issues related to drug addiction.
During the visit, the officials and counselors of the centre briefed the students about the causes of drug dependence, psychological and physical impacts of addiction, and the various stages of treatment including detoxification, counseling, therapy sessions, and rehabilitation. Students were also informed about preventive measures, the role of family support, and the importance of community participation in helping individuals recover from addiction.
An interactive session was conducted where students asked questions regarding relapse, legal provisions related to drug abuse, and the challenges faced by rehabilitation centers. The counselors shared real-life experiences (without disclosing identities) to help students understand the seriousness of addiction and the efforts required for recovery. Students also observed the facilities available at the center, including counseling rooms, therapy areas, and recreational spaces designed to support patients’ rehabilitation.
The visit concluded with a Pledge and vote of thanks to the centre authorities for their cooperation and valuable insights. The activity proved to be informative and impactful, enhancing students’ awareness about drug abuse and motivating them to contribute towards building a drug-free society.
