Guest lecture on “Women Empowerment through Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
A guest lecture on “Women Empowerment through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Microfinance” was organized by Subharti College of Allied and Healthcare in collaboration with the University Gender Sensitization Cell on 31st March 2026. The session aimed to create awareness among students regarding the role of SHGs and microfinance in promoting women’s socio-economic empowerment. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sarika Abhay, In-charge, University Gender Sensitization Cell, who served as the resource person for the event. Dr. Sarika Abhay elaborated on the concept of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as a grassroots-level initiative that enables women to achieve financial independence and collective strength. She highlighted how microfinance plays a crucial role in providing accessible financial services to women, particularly in rural and underprivileged communities. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students engaged with the resource person through questions and shared their perspectives. The lecture proved to be highly informative and inspiring, enhancing students’ understanding of practical approaches to women empowerment. The event was successfully organized and appreciated by both students and faculty members.
