The patented innovation has been developed by Dr. Vijay Wadhwan, Professor and Head, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, along with Meet Sharma (BDS 2023) and Deepanshi Chauhan (BDS 2023).
The TweeXplorer is a compact, autoclavable dental instrument that uniquely integrates a lockable tweezer for handling cotton, gauze, and orthodontic materials with a foldable shepherd’s hook explorer and periodontal probe on the opposite end. Designed for safety and convenience, the instrument folds into a protective stainless steel and plastic handle, ensuring portability and contamination prevention.
The multi-functional tool is expected to enhance efficiency in various dental procedures, including caries detection, periodontal pocket depth measurement, restorative and orthodontic treatments, pediatric dentistry, field dentistry, and forensic applications. Its precision-engineered joints and tactile grips allow smooth operation and better control, reducing instrument clutter during clinical practice.
University officials congratulated the innovators on this achievement, stating that the design registration reflects the institution’s strong focus on research, innovation, and practical healthcare solutions.
