Department of Physical Education Organizes Guest Lecture on “Physiological Basis of Training Load, Fatigue & Recovery”

The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Physiological Basis of Training Load, Fatigue & Recovery” on 14 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding regarding scientific sports training, physiological adaptations, fatigue management, and recovery mechanisms essential for athletic performance and sports conditioning.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who felicitated the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. Bhanu Pratap, Assistant Professor Grade-II, Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, by presenting a ceremonial shawl (Padtka) and a sapling as a token of respect and gratitude.

The guest lecture was successfully coordinated under the convenorship of Dr. Deepak Raghav, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, whose dedicated efforts contributed significantly towards the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. Faculty members of the department were also present during the session and actively supported the event.

During the lecture, Dr. Bhanu Pratap delivered an insightful and scientific presentation focusing on the physiological principles associated with training load, fatigue, adaptation, and recovery in sports performance. The resource person elaborated on the effects of training intensity, volume, overload principles, and recovery cycles on the human body and athletic performance.

The session also highlighted the importance of proper recovery strategies, rest intervals, nutrition, hydration, sleep, and monitoring physiological responses during sports training. Dr. Bhanu Pratap explained various concepts related to overtraining, muscular fatigue, aerobic and anaerobic adaptation, and scientific conditioning methods used in modern sports training programmes.

Interactive discussions and practical examples helped students understand the role of sports physiology in designing effective training programmes and improving athletic performance. Students actively participated in the session and interacted with the resource person through questions related to fatigue management, performance enhancement, and recovery techniques in sports.

Approximately 55 students enthusiastically attended the programme and gained valuable knowledge regarding scientific approaches to training and recovery management. The lecture proved highly informative and beneficial for students pursuing careers in physical education, sports sciences, coaching, and fitness training.

The Department of Physical Education expressed sincere gratitude to the distinguished Resource Person for delivering a highly enriching and impactful lecture. The programme reflected the department’s commitment towards quality education, scientific learning, and professional development in alignment with NAAC quality initiatives and NEP 2020 objectives.
