Department of Physical Education Organizes Guest Lecture on “Micro Teaching”
The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Micro Teaching” on 13 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ teaching competencies, classroom communication skills, instructional techniques, and professional teaching practices in the field of physical education.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who felicitated the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. Aruna Sirohi, Associate Coach, Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, by presenting a ceremonial shawl (Padtka) and a sapling as a token of respect and gratitude.
The guest lecture was successfully coordinated under the convenorship of Dr. Ankit Singh Jadon, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, whose efforts contributed significantly towards the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. Faculty members of the department were also present during the session and actively supported the event.
During the lecture, Dr. Aruna Sirohi delivered an insightful session focusing on the concept, importance, objectives, and techniques of micro teaching in teacher education and physical education programmes. She explained how micro teaching helps future educators improve teaching skills such as lesson planning, presentation techniques, reinforcement, classroom management, questioning skills, demonstration methods, and communication abilities.
The resource person emphasized the role of micro teaching in developing confidence, effective teaching strategies, and professional teaching competencies among students. Practical examples and interactive discussions enabled participants to understand the step-by-step process of planning and delivering effective teaching sessions.
Students actively participated in the programme and interacted with the resource person through discussions and questions related to teaching methodologies and classroom practices. The lecture proved highly informative and beneficial for students as it enhanced their understanding regarding effective teaching-learning processes and professional teacher preparation.
Approximately 55 students enthusiastically attended the session. The programme significantly contributed towards developing teaching aptitude, communication skills, and professional competencies among future physical education teachers.
The Department of Physical Education expressed sincere gratitude to the distinguished Resource Person for delivering a highly enriching and impactful lecture. The programme reflected the department’s commitment towards quality teacher education, skill development, and holistic learning in alignment with NAAC quality initiatives and NEP 2020 objectives.
