A Yoga Workshop on the theme “Healthy Ageing” was successfully organized by Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College and Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (MASCHNYS), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, on 12th June 2026.
The workshop was conducted at the Meditation Hall, 2nd Floor, Samrat Ashok Subharti School of Buddhist Studies. The main objective of the workshop was to create awareness about the importance of yoga in promoting healthy ageing, maintaining physical fitness, enhancing mental well-being, and improving the overall quality of life among older adults.
The programme commenced with an introductory session highlighting the significance of yoga in healthy ageing. Participants were informed about how regular yogic practices can help improve flexibility, balance, strength, respiratory efficiency, and mental health. The workshop included various yogic practices such as loosening exercises, age-appropriate asanas, pranayama techniques, meditation, and relaxation practices. Special emphasis was placed on the role of yoga in preventing age-related health problems, reducing stress, improving concentration, and promoting a positive outlook towards life.
Objectives of the Workshop
• To promote awareness regarding healthy ageing through yoga.
• To improve physical flexibility, balance, and strength.
• To enhance mental well-being and emotional stability.
• To encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices.
• To create awareness about the benefits of yoga in maintaining overall health and quality of life.
A total no. of 14 participants actively participated in the workshop. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kh. Geetarani Devi, Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator, who ensured the smooth and successful conduct of all activities. The participants showed great enthusiasm and actively engaged in all the sessions.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for achieving healthy and graceful ageing. The programme successfully motivated the participants to adopt regular yoga practices and inspired them to lead healthier, more active, and balanced lives.
