Yoga Workshop on the theme Yoga for Healthy Ageing
International Day of Yoga 2026
Meerut, June 19, 2026: In observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Maharishi Aurobindo Subharti College & Hospital of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (MASCHNYS) at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, conducted a workshop titled “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” at the Subharti Institute of Technology and Engineering (SITE).
Dr. Niraj Nayan Rishi, Associate Professor at MASCHNYS, led the session, offering an informative presentation on how yoga supports healthy and active ageing. He outlined the ways in which consistent yoga practice enhances flexibility, balance, muscle strength, lung function, and psychological well‑being. He also discussed yoga’s benefits in stress reduction, prevention of lifestyle disorders, and overall life quality improvement for people of all ages.
Participants practiced a set of accessible asanas, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods designed for daily practice. Dr. Rishi clarified how these routines contribute to sustained physical energy, emotional stability, and cognitive resilience, making yoga an effective lifelong strategy for ageing well.
The programme attracted enthusiastic involvement from SITE’s teaching and administrative staff, who participated actively in demonstrations and discussions. Attendees praised the practical focus and immediate applicability of the exercises.
Thirty-five participants attended the workshop. The event reinforced the International Day of Yoga’s message and highlighted the value of integrating yoga into everyday life to promote holistic health.
