Activity on the Death Anniversary of Madam Bhikaji Cama

Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management (BCSCHM), under the aegis of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a Lecture and Quiz on the death anniversary of Madam Bhikaji Cama on 13th August 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of BCSCHM. The programme commenced at 09:15 AM and was organized at the institutional level with a focus on history, the freedom movement, women’s empowerment, social reform, and student engagement. A total of 30 participants attended the programme.

The programme featured a lecture delivered by Dr. Ratan Bisui, Assistant Professor, BCSCHM. The session highlighted the life, contributions, and legacy of Madam Bhikaji Cama, particularly her role as a freedom fighter, social reformer, educationist, and advocate of women’s empowerment. The lecture provided students with an opportunity to understand the historical significance of Madam Bhikaji Cama and her contribution to India’s national movement.

The lecture was followed by an interactive quiz designed to reinforce the knowledge discussed during the session and encourage active student participation. The programme also included a tribute ceremony in which Dr. Indraneel Bose, Head, BCSCHM, addressed the gathering and paid tribute to Madam Bhikaji Cama by offering a floral garland to her portrait. The combination of the lecture, tribute ceremony, and quiz created an informative and participative learning environment for the students.

The activity aimed to create awareness among students about Madam Bhikaji Cama’s contribution to India’s freedom movement, her role in social reform and education, and her contribution to women’s empowerment. It also sought to encourage students to develop an interest in India’s history, freedom struggle, and social reform movements through an engaging academic activity.

The programme contributed to enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of Madam Bhikaji Cama and her contribution to India’s freedom movement and social development. The quiz encouraged students to recall and apply the information presented during the lecture while promoting active participation and healthy academic interaction. The activity also supported the institution’s emphasis on holistic student development, awareness building, experiential learning, and personality development.

The event concluded with a positive learning experience for the participants and reinforced the importance of remembering significant personalities and their contributions to India’s history and social development. The college intends to encourage similar awareness programmes, lectures, discussions, and interactive activities to promote students’ historical awareness, social consciousness, and overall development.
