Under the Government of India’s national campaign “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega” (Tuberculosis Will Lose, India Will Win), a tuberculosis (TB) awareness programme was organized by the Department of Community Medicine at Subharti Medical College, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Pawan Parashar, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, to sensitize first-year BNYS students about various aspects of tuberculosis, its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

During the programme, Dr. Pawan Parashar, Dr. Varsha Chaudhary, Dr. Sartaj Ahmad, Professor and Dean Students’ Welfare, and Dr. Sweta Bhardwaj, Additional Dean Students’ Welfare, shared their views on important issues related to tuberculosis, including its symptoms, causes, preventive measures, timely diagnosis, regular treatment, and social myths and misconceptions associated with the disease. The speakers emphasized that tuberculosis is an infectious disease that can be cured with timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment. They highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about TB, eliminating social stigma and discrimination against patients, and encouraging individuals to complete the full course of prescribed treatment. The programme aimed to sensitize future healthcare professionals to the importance of tuberculosis prevention and control and to motivate them to act as ambassadors of health awareness in society. The initiative also encouraged students to contribute actively to the national mission of eliminating tuberculosis through community participation, health education, and the promotion of responsible health-seeking behaviour. The programme reaffirmed the commitment of the Department of Community Medicine, Subharti Medical College, and Swami Vivekanand Subharti University to public health awareness and the national goal of a TB-free India.
