Alumni Lecture
Raja Kunwar Singh Subharti Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organized an alumni lecture on 14.10.2025. The main objective of this lecture was to familiarize students with practical experiences of the library profession, modern technologies, and employment opportunities. The primary goal of this program was also to develop self-confidence, ethics, and technical skills among students.
The speaker of this program was Mrs. Anuradha, a former student of the department, who is currently working as a librarian at Eklavya Model Government School, Chhattisgarh. Mrs. Anuradha shared her experiences on web-based library services, library automation, and promotion of reading culture. She said, “In today’s era, a library is not merely a collection of books but has become a dynamic center of information and knowledge.”
Mrs. Anuradha also gave useful suggestions to students for preparing for government jobs. She said, “For success, continuous study, technical knowledge, and staying updated are very important. Library Science students should have knowledge of software like KOHA, D-Space, Inflibnet, Delnet, etc. Along with this, they should systematically prepare for UGC NET, SSSC, and state-level examinations.”
Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in his welcome address said that the achievements of the department’s former students are a matter of pride for us. Such programs inspire students and provide them direction for employment and professional development.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sapna Sharma. On this occasion, all faculty members of the department, along with students and staff members were present. All current and former students extended their full cooperation in making the program successful. On this occasion, students asked numerous questions from Mrs. Anuradha. The program concluded with a group photo and presentation of a memento.
