Alumni Talk on Importance of Language

“Language is not just a medium of communication, it is the bridge that connects minds, cultures, and opportunities,” said alumna Ms. Apurvi Mittal

Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages organized an Alumni Talk on “The Importance of Language” on 26th June 2025. The session aimed to inspire students by highlighting the role of language in academic, professional, and personal growth.

The event began with a warm welcome to the alumna, Ms. Apurvi Mittal, who was presented with a sapling as a token of respect and goodwill by Dr. Rafat Khanam, In-Charge of English and Foreign Languages; Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages; Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; and Prof. Rajeshwar Pal.

The resource person, Ms. Apurvi Mittal, an alumna of the Department and a former student of M.A. English, drew from her academic journey and professional experiences to illustrate the indispensable role language plays in communication, cultural exchange, career development, and personality enhancement. She emphasized that mastering language not only aids in expressing ideas effectively but also fosters critical thinking and cross-cultural understanding.

Expressing her deep appreciation for the English language, Ms. Mittal acknowledged the constant guidance and support of the English faculty members during her Master’s journey, with special gratitude to Dr. Rafat Khanam, In-Charge of English and Foreign Languages.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages; Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; and faculty members Prof. Rajeshwar Pal, Dr. Yeshpal Sharma, Ms. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ranveer, Dr. Ashish Dipankar, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Abhijeet Sharma, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Mr. Ankit Kumar, and Ms. Sania Agarwal.

Students in attendance included Chhavi, Apurvi, Shikha, Priya, Prachi, Priyanshu, Mayank, Fahad, Bhumi, Samia, Kanishka, Mayank, Lalrosangi, Rithik, Akansha, Vidhi Goswami, and Vidhi Chauhan.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion where students shared their perspectives on the significance of language learning in their academic and professional lives. The event proved to be a valuable platform for current students to gain insights from an accomplished alumna and to recognize the enduring importance of language skills in diverse fields.
