NSS cell on World No Tobacco Day
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, a huge rally was taken out in the university campus by the National Service Scheme (NSS) cell of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University. The purpose of this rally was to tell the students about the dangers and harms of tobacco and also to make them aware of its ill effects.
This rally was started from the Sujata canteen campus of the university. In which the NSS volunteers lined up and moved forward shouting slogans against tobacco. Despite the scorching sun, the enthusiasm of the volunteers was worth seeing.
Starting the rally, NSS University Program Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chandra Thaledi addressed the volunteers and said that common people are badly affected by the consumption of tobacco. It has a bad effect on physical and mental health.
Smoking is considered to be the main reason for increasing diseases like cancer. Dr. Thaledi said that volunteers should spread awareness against tobacco and smoking at their home, family and village level.
After this, the rally reached Subharti Dental College from the Vice Chancellor’s office via Gate No. 4, where Dr. Sumit Goel explained in detail about the ill effects of tobacco through an exhibition organized by the Dental College. He said that tobacco mainly causes mouth and throat cancer, so staying away from tobacco and smoking is very important to stay healthy. NSS Program Officer Shivani Bhadauria said on this occasion that NSS volunteers can play an important role in making the country healthy. During this, while telling the volunteers about the harm caused by tobacco, the rally’s coordinator and program officer Dr. Vishal Kumar said that due to tobacco, millions of people around the world are dying prematurely due to various tobacco-related diseases. Therefore, public awareness is necessary for this.
In this rally program officers of all 4 units of university’s NSS cell and various college coordinators participated. Ram Prakash Tiwari, Dharmendra Singh, Shivani Bhadauria, Dr. Vishal Singh, Rahul Kumar, Engineer Gurusevak Kesarwani, Dr. Dhananjay Srivastava, Dr. Neha Singh, etc.were present with volunteers of NSS.
