On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, witnessed a grand and spiritually enriching celebration dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and learning. The festival was celebrated with great devotion, enthusiasm, and cultural fervour through various programmes organised by the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, and the Department of Physical Education on 23 January 2026.The Saraswati Puja was organised under the guidance and leadership of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, and the Chief Executive Officer, Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, who extended their heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all faculty members and students on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
The programme commenced with Vedic chanting and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. Defence Director Colonel Rajesh Tyagi graced the occasion as a special guest and performed the rituals of worship with due reverence, praying for the bright academic future of the students. Faculty members, staff, and a large number of students actively participated in the puja, creating a serene and devotional atmosphere across the campus.
Sharing his views, Lieutenant Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, emphasised that Basant Panchami symbolises knowledge, creativity, discipline, and positive energy. He encouraged students to remain dedicated to learning, innovation, and self-development. Prof. (Dr.) Indira Singh, Head of the Department of Education, highlighted the cultural and educational importance of such celebrations, stating that they strengthen faith in Indian traditions, values, and spiritual heritage.
Simultaneously, the Department of Physical Education organised a Hawan Pooja in its premises, where faculty members and students participated with discipline and devotion. The chanting of Vedic mantras created a spiritually uplifting environment, reinforcing cultural values and respect for traditions among students.
Following the religious ceremonies, a Kite Flying Competition was organised for students of the Department of Physical Education. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and reflected joy, teamwork, sportsmanship, and festive spirit. The colourful kites soaring in the sky added vibrancy and excitement to the celebration, making it a memorable experience for all.
The entire programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Reshu Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, whose planning and guidance ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event. After the worship, prasad was distributed among all guests, faculty members, staff, and students.
The Basant Panchami celebration at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University was not only a religious observance but also an important initiative towards promoting holistic development, cultural awareness, moral values, and unity among students. At the conclusion of the programme, all dignitaries appreciated the efforts and emphasised the need to continue organising such cultural and educational activities in the future.
