Parakram Diwas Celebration 2026

On the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Chair, organized Parakram Week from January 17 to January 23, 2026. As part of this week-long programme, seminars and speech competitions were organized in Subharti University as well as in schools of Meerut and Muzaffarnagar. The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. Ritesh Chaudhary, with Prof. Ashok Tyagi serving as the Co-Coordinator.

The objective of Parakram Week was to remember and reflect upon the life, ideology, and indomitable courage of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The closing ceremony was graced by Rajendra Singh, Information Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, while the Executive Editor of Aaj Tak News Channel, Saeed Ansari, was present as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Rajendra Singh highlighted Netaji’s life and stated that his policies were meant for the welfare of all sections of society. He noted that people from all communities were part of Netaji’s Azad Hind Fauj. He further mentioned that the army comprised five brigades named after Gandhi, Nehru, Subhas, Abul Kalam Azad, and Rani Lakshmibai. Guest of Honour Saeed Ansari remarked that Netaji did not ask people for blood; rather, he asked for their support for the nation and society.

Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, Chief Executive Officer of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, delivered the welcome address and spoke on the relevance of Netaji’s ideas in contemporary India. He emphasized that values such as courage, discipline, and national commitment, advocated by Netaji, continue to inspire people even today.

The programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, who stressed the need to remember national heroes and to imbibe their values in education, journalism, and public life. He urged students to adopt truth, courage, and honesty in their professional lives.

Prof. Ritesh Chaudhary also shared his views, discussing Netaji’s strategic vision, leadership qualities, and unparalleled patriotism. He encouraged students to go beyond textbooks to study Netaji’s life and apply his principles to real-life challenges. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Preeti Singh, while master of ceremony was Ram Prakash Tiwari.

During the event, winners of the speech competition were also felicitated. The programme witnessed the presence and active participation of Dean Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Prof. Ashok Tyagi, Prof. R. P. Singh, Dr. Ashutosh Verma, Shelly Sharma, Tarun Jain, Tushar, Ayushi, Jhanhvi, Harsh, Abhishek, Tanu, faculty members, and a large number of students. Throughout the week, discussions and academic activities created an atmosphere of patriotism and intellectual reflection. The programme strongly reaffirmed the enduring legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and inspired the academic community to carry forward his ideals.
