 Report on the Inaugural Day of Seven-Day Orientation Programme 2026–27

Department of Education & Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU, MeerutThe Seven-Day Orientation Programme 2026–27, jointly organized by the Department of Education and Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, commenced on 31 August 2026. The programme is scheduled from 31 August to 5 September 2026 with the aim of providing newly admitted students with a meaningful introduction to university life and promoting their holistic development. The programme was aligned with: SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Objectives

To familiarize students with the University, Faculty, Departments, rules and regulations.

To introduce students to academic, library, health and student welfare facilities.

To promote mental, spiritual and physical well-being among students.

To encourage discipline, positive thinking and holistic development.

The inaugural session began with Saraswati Vandana and a cultural programme, coordinated by Dr. Reshu Rani, Cultural Committee Incharge. This was followed by an address by Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra, Dean, Fine Art & Faculty of Education, who welcomed and motivated the students. Prof. (Dr.) Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education, and Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head, Department of Physical Education, delivered welcome addresses and highlighted the importance of academic commitment, discipline and physical fitness.

A special lecture on “Discipline, Rules and Regulations for the University/Department” was delivered by Dr. Shashi Raj Teotia, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Computer Applications and Chief Proctor, SVSU. Students were also introduced to student welfare, wellness and health facilities by Dr. Sartaj Ahmad, Associate Professor, Community Health Care. The session on “Role of Mental and Spiritual Wellness for Success and Peace in Life” was conducted by Dr. Rahul Bansal, Chairman, Wellness Centre, SVSU. He began the session with a five-minute meditation and introduced the students to the Five “P” approach—Pustak, Pranayam, Paramarsh, Parishram and Prarthana—as simple practices for managing life effectively and maintaining peace and balance.The students were subsequently introduced to the Department of Education and Department of Physical Education and their faculty members. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Bhuvnesh Sharma, Department of Education.The overall Incharge of the Seven days Orientation Program is Dr. Indira Singh, Prof. Department of Education.

Outcome

The inaugural day successfully familiarized students with the academic environment, institutional discipline, available facilities and faculty members. The sessions on wellness and meditation encouraged students to adopt positive, healthy and balanced approaches towards their university life and overall development.
