Best Out of Waste and Anchoring Competition
On 25th April 2025, the Creative Crew Club of Student’s Club, Keral Verma Subharti College of Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized two innovative and engaging competitions—the Best Out of Waste Competition and the Anchoring Competition—designed to foster creativity, public speaking, and environmental consciousness among the students. Held in the Conference Hall, the event began at 11:00 AM and aimed to provide a platform for students to demonstrate their skills in crafting, communication, and sustainability. The competitions, with their well-defined guidelines, encouraged active participation and offered valuable learning experiences for all involved.
The Best Out of Waste Competition served as an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and resourcefulness by transforming waste materials into useful and aesthetically appealing artifacts. The competition was designed to highlight the importance of recycling and repurposing, encouraging students to use every day discarded items such as old newspapers, bottles, cloth, CDs, wrappers, and cardboard. Participants were strictly prohibited from using freshly bought items or ready-made craft kits, ensuring that all entries were crafted using only waste materials. This guideline was aimed at stimulating innovative thinking while also promoting sustainability.
The evaluation of the submissions was based on several criteria. Judges assessed the creativity of each project, considering how uniquely participants had approached the task. The material usage was another key criterion, with the judges looking for efficient and thoughtful use of the available waste materials.
Parallel to this, the Anchoring Competition provided an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate their public speaking and presentation skills. This competition challenged participants to anchor a mock event, such as a talent show, award ceremony, or a festival celebration, which tested their ability to engage and entertain an audience. The anchoring competition had a time limit of 2 minutes, requiring participants to prepare concise and engaging scripts. The competition’s rules emphasized the importance of originality in scripting, ensuring that all content was self-created rather than borrowed from existing sources.
The judges judged the events on the different criteria based on the involving factors and the scientific techniques and methodologies. This competition was coordinated by Ms. Manvi Chaudhary & Ms. Pragati Jain (Students’ Club Facilitator) with the Creative Crew Club’s Vice-President Riya Rani, B.Sc. Botany IVth semester.
The Best Out of Waste and Anchoring Competitions organized by the Creative Crew Club successfully achieved their objectives of promoting creativity, environmental sustainability, and effective communication among the students. By providing a platform for students to engage in these challenges, the event encouraged them to think critically, develop new skills, and express themselves confidently in public. The Creative Crew Club’s initiative served as an inspiration to the students.
