“Birth Anniversary of Balkrishna Hari Chapekar” 

The Chapekar Brothers, Damodar Hari Chapekar (25 June 1869 – 18 April 1898), Balkrishna Hari Chapekar (1873 – 12 May 1899, also called Bapurao) and Vasudeo Hari Chapekar (1880 – 8 May 1899), were Indian revolutionaries involved in assassinating W. C. Rand, the British Plague Commissioner of Pune, after the public of Pune was frustrated with the vandalism from the officers and soldiers appointed by him, in the late 19th century.

Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management celebrated the “Birth Anniversary of Balkrishna Hari Chapekar” by remembering his contribution in the Indian freedom struggle with students of MHMCT, BHMCT, B.sc.CA and DFPB.

The Lecture started at 9:00 AM with a welcome note by Dr.

Shiv Mohan Verma, Principal, BCSCHM. The speaker of the session was Mr. Kuldeep Narayan, Sanskriti Vibhag, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University.

During the session, Mr. Kuldeep Narayan discussed the history of the Chapekar brothers.

He further explained chapekar family history, the assasination of Rand and their Boundless sacrifice.

After the lecture, Dr. Shiv Mohan Verma thanked Mr. Kuldeep Narayan for providing his valuable time to make this lecture interesting and memorable for the Hotel Management students. He also thanked the organising team and students for making this event a memorable one.

Mr. Indraneel Bose was the session moderator. During the Guest Lecture 39 students, 10 Faculty members and 6 non-teaching staff were present.
