Birthday celebrations for the King Of Bhutan by the International Students

The Bhutanese student association of Meerut and the International Student Global Relations (ISGR), Subharti University celebrated the 42nd birth anniversary of His Majesty – Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on the 21st of February, 2022.

The celebrations were organised at the Subharti School of Buddhist Studies and were attended by the deans, students and staff from multiple Faculties. The chief guest of the celebration, Retd. Major General Dr. G K Thapliyal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Subharti University, Meerut conveyed his greetings towards His Majesty and shared that he has had an opportunity to visit Bhutan twice during his illustrious tenure with the Indian Army. He also added that one of his fond memories is having played golf with His Majesty The King of Bhutan.

The international students from Bhutan attended the celebration dressed in the traditional bright Bhutanese dresses and enjoyed various cultural programs. A quiz and a balloon dance were also organised by the students who filled the room with joy and laughter whilst partaking in the games.

The Director, ISGR said that all credit goes to the students from Bhutan for organising such a splendid and special event on the joyous occasion. He expressed his gratitude towards the University’s administration and management for permitting and facilitating the celebrations to be held on the campus.

Ms. Tashi Dema, student of the Dept. of Library & Information Science enthralled the audience as she executed her responsibility as the Master of the ceremony. Mr. Ngawang Tseten, student of the Deptartment of Computer Application gave a short history of the Bhutanese monarchy and the King as she welcomed all the guests. Mr. Thuji Subba read the thanking note and concluded the event.
