Delegation from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, visited the Vietnam Buddhist University in Ho Chi Minh City on 28 September 2026 as part of an academic and institutional engagement focused on Buddhist education, research and opportunities for international collaboration.
The delegation was led by Ms. Stuti Narain Kecker, Hon’ble Chancellor, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, along with Mr. Heero Hito, Founding Director and Advisor, Samrat Ashoka Subharti Institute of Buddhist Studies, and other members of the delegation.
The delegation was received by Venerable Dr. Thich Nhat Tu, Standing Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Standing Vice Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist University, along with senior academic and administrative representatives of the University.
During the interaction, the Vietnamese Buddhist University shared an overview of its academic programmes, research activities and institutional initiatives in Buddhist Studies. The University offers programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels and provides academic engagement across different Buddhist traditions, including the Pali, Sanskrit, Tibetan and Chinese traditions.
The delegation also visited key facilities of the University, including the main hall and the Tri Quang Library, and gained an insight into its academic and educational infrastructure.
During the visit, Ms. Stuti Narain Kecker appreciated the University’s academic environment and infrastructure and expressed interest in developing avenues for bilateral academic cooperation and educational exchange between the two institutions. She also expressed support for opportunities that could facilitate Vietnamese students’ academic engagement with Subharti University.
Mr. Heero Hito, Founding Director and Advisor of the Samrat Ashoka Subharti Institute of Buddhist Studies, highlighted the Institute’s commitment to advancing Buddhist Studies and fostering international academic dialogue. He also discussed the possibility of organising an academic conference in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist University, providing a platform for scholars, students, monks and nuns to exchange perspectives on Buddhist Studies.
The interaction highlighted the shared academic interests of the two institutions in promoting Buddhist Studies, scholarly exchange, research and international collaboration. Such engagements are expected to contribute towards strengthening academic linkages between India and Vietnam and creating opportunities for students, researchers and scholars in the field of Buddhist Studies.
The visit reflects Swami Vivekanand Subharti University’s commitment to expanding international academic collaborations and promoting India’s rich Buddhist heritage through education, research and global scholarly engagement.
