Celebration of Rahul Sankrityayan Jayanti
The Rahul Sankrityayan Subhart School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a programme on the occasion of Rahul Sankrityayan Jayanti on 09 April 2026 at the HR Lab.
The event was held to commemorate the life and intellectual legacy of Rahul Sankrityayan, widely regarded as the Father of Hindi Travel Literature, whose remarkable contributions to Hindi literature, history, philosophy, linguistics, and cultural studies continue to inspire academic curiosity, research orientation, and critical thinking among students and scholars.
On this occasion, Dr. Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Languages, delivered a detailed lecture highlighting the importance of Rahul Sankrityayan’s intellectual legacy, his contribution to travel literature, Buddhist studies, social thought and knowledge dissemination. She emphasized how his writings promote interdisciplinary learning and encourage students towards research-based understanding of literature and culture.
The programme was effectively conducted by Chhavi Tyagi, B.A. student, who ensured smooth coordination of the event proceedings. The presence of esteemed faculty members Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Yeshpal, Dr. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ashish, Dr. Nishi Singh, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Mr. Ankit, Ms. Bhavana Joshi, and Ms. Soni Chauhan, along with students from the Department of Languages, added academic value to the event. Participants showed keen interest in the life, works, and scholarly contributions of Rahul Sankrityayan. The programme provided an academic platform for meaningful discussion on literature, history, philosophy, and cultural consciousness.
Objectives
- To create awareness among students about the life, works and intellectual contribution of Rahul Sankrityayan in Hindi literature and cultural studies.
- To encourage research aptitude, critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning in the field of literature, history and philosophy.
