Cleanliness Drive under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 (1-10-2026)

With reference to the University Grants Commission (UGC) communication regarding the observance of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a cleanliness drive on 1 October 2026 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”The activity aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and collective responsibility among teacher educators and students.

Objectives of the Activity

To promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental awareness among teacher educators and students.

To encourage students to take the initiative to maintain cleanliness in their classrooms, corridors, and green courtyard.

To promote the protection of green spaces and the maintenance of a clean and healthy campus environment.

During the activity, teacher educators and B.Ed. first-year students actively participated in cleaning the surroundings of the Department of Education, including the corridors, classroom vicinity, and green courtyard. The initiative highlighted the importance of beginning the journey towards a clean and green environment with our immediate surroundings. It also encouraged students to adopt cleanliness as a regular habit and contribute towards maintaining a healthy, hygienic, and sustainable campus.

Prof (Dr.) Pintu Mishra, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Education, extended his best wishes and appreciated the initiative. Dr. Mukesh Ruhela, Chairman, Environment Committee, SVSU, Meerut, and Mr. Sagar, Transport In-charge, SVSU, Meerut, played an important role in supporting the activity. Anoj Raj, Head, Department of Education, appreciated the efforts of the activity coordinators, Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi and Dr. Reeba Devi, along with student coordinators Priya, Arpita, and Prerna Singh, and the participating B.El.Ed B.Sc.B.Ed,B.Ed.  M.Ed students. The activity aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). It promoted experiential learning, environmental responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of preserving green spaces.

The cleanliness drive reinforced the message that a clean campus is the shared responsibility of every individual. Through such initiatives, the Department of Education continues to encourage future teachers to become responsible citizens and environmental ambassadors who can extend the message of cleanliness from the university campus to society. All Faculty mambers,non teaching Staff and students participated with full zeal and interest.

Expected Outcomes and Achievements

Improved cleanliness of the departmental surroundings, corridors, and green courtyard.

Increased awareness regarding personal responsibility for maintaining a clean campus.

Greater sensitivity towards environmental protection and the preservation of green spaces.

Encouragement for students to extend cleanliness practices to their homes and communities.
