REPORT ON COMMUNITY-ORIENTED PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMP ORGANISED BY DEPT. OF MUSCULOSKELTAL PHYSIOTHERAPY, JPSCP, SVSU
The Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy (JPSCP), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, successfully organized a Community-Oriented Physiotherapy Camp and Awareness Programme on 2 October 2026 (Friday) at Grand Aura Banquet, Sadar, Meerut. The programme was organized with the objective of providing accessible physiotherapy services to the community, promoting preventive healthcare, facilitating early identification of musculoskeletal problems, and creating awareness regarding the role of physiotherapy in pain management, functional rehabilitation, and healthy living.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Danish Nouman, Head, Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Arun Govil, Hon’ble Member of Parliament; Shri Amit Agarwal, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA); and Shri Rajendra Agarwal, Former Member of Parliament (MP). Their esteemed presence added significance to the community outreach initiative and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts for promoting public health and community welfare. The camp was conducted from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, during which 63 patients from the local community were evaluated and provided appropriate physiotherapy care and guidance. The clinical team comprised Dr. Megha Chauhan, Clinical Physiotherapist & Dr. Shivam Mishra, Dr. Kaishki, Dr. Anchal, Dr. Yashita Rana (PGs) and Muskan and Vikas BPT Interns. Patients underwent assessment of posture, joint mobility, pain intensity, gait pattern, functional limitations, and musculoskeletal status. Based on clinical findings, appropriate interventions including manual therapy, joint mobilization, stretching, therapeutic exercises, and electrotherapy, wherever indicated, were provided.
A health-awareness session was also conducted focusing on arthritis prevention and management, regular physical activity, obesity control, ergonomic practices, posture correction, lifestyle modification, and timely physiotherapy consultation. Patients were provided with individualized home-exercise instructions and advised to continue treatment and follow-up at the university’s Physiotherapy OPD, including advanced physiotherapy interventions where required. The programme contributed to community health awareness, early identification of musculoskeletal disorders, improved access to physiotherapy services, preventive healthcare, and experiential learning for students and clinical trainees, thereby reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community engagement, social responsibility, quality healthcare delivery, and holistic rehabilitation services.
