Financial Skills Enhancement through Financial Literacy & Investor Awareness Programme Successfully Organized by the Department of Physical Education
Meerut, 07 October 2026:
The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organized a “Financial Skills Enhancement through Financial Literacy & Investor Awareness Programme” on 07 October 2026 at the Seminar Hall of the Department of Physical Education. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing students’ practical financial knowledge, money-management skills, informed investment practices, risk management abilities, and awareness regarding financial fraud.
The programme featured Ms. Archana Sharma, SEBI-Empanelled Securities Markets Trainer, as the Resource Person. She delivered a highly informative and interactive session on financial literacy, personal finance management, savings, banking, investment and financial planning.
The programme commenced with Saraswati Vandana and ceremonial lighting of the lamp, creating an auspicious and positive beginning to the session. This was followed by the formal welcome and felicitation of the Resource Person through the presentation of a sapling by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Head, Department of Physical Education.
During the session, Ms. Archana Sharma emphasized that earning money alone is not sufficient; proper management of income, controlled expenditure, regular savings and informed investment decisions are equally important for financial well-being. She explained practical methods of preparing a budget, managing expenses according to income and developing a disciplined saving habit.
One of the major highlights of the programme was the speaker’s interactive and activity-based method of teaching. Instead of relying only on a conventional lecture, she actively involved the students through a short role-play/act and real-life examples. Students themselves became part of the activity, which made concepts related to savings, expenditure, investment and financial decision-making much easier to understand. The active responses of students and their enthusiastic participation during the question-and-answer interactions reflected their interest in the session.
The Resource Person particularly highlighted that investment does not necessarily require a large amount of money. Students were encouraged to develop the habit of saving and investing even from their limited pocket money or a small monthly amount. She explained how disciplined and regular investment, even with a small contribution, can create substantial financial security over the long term and contribute towards future and old-age financial planning.
Students were also introduced to various banking and investment-related concepts, including Savings Accounts, Current Accounts, Fixed Deposits (FDs), Recurring Deposits (RDs) and other investment avenues. The speaker explained the basic concepts of risk, return, liquidity and financial planning through simple and practical examples.
The session also focused on the importance of recognizing and avoiding financial frauds and misleading investment practices. Students were encouraged to understand the risks associated with an investment option, verify information before investing and make informed financial decisions rather than following unverified advice.
The overall presentation remained highly engaging and informative throughout the session. The combination of real-life examples, student participation, interactive activities and question-answer sessions helped students connect financial concepts with their everyday lives.
To reinforce the learning outcomes, a Quiz Competition was organized towards the end of the programme. Students actively participated in the quiz and demonstrated their understanding of the concepts discussed during the session. A Feedback Form was also circulated to obtain students’ responses and suggestions regarding the programme. The feedback reflected that the session was informative, practical and highly relevant to students’ present and future financial needs.
The programme was attended by the Teaching and Non-Teaching Faculty Members of the Department of Physical Education, including Dr. Manju Adhikari, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Deepak Raghav, Dr. Atul Tiwari, Dr. Ankit Singh Jadon, Dr. Nishant Kumar, Mr. Shubham Rathi, Mr. Sahard Panwar, Mr. Sanjeet T.K., Ms. Deepanshu Chaudhary, Dr. Sonia Rana, along with Research Scholar Mr.Mohd. Sartaz.
The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of the Conveners, Dr. Manju Adhikari and Dr. Deepak Raghav. The initiative provided students with valuable knowledge that extended beyond the classroom and helped them understand the importance of financial discipline, savings, responsible investment and long-term financial security.
The programme concluded successfully with a positive learning experience for the students. Such initiatives by the Department of Physical Education contribute significantly towards the holistic development, practical awareness and life skills of students, preparing them not only for professional life but also for responsible and financially informed living.
